Hi all,
Looking for a therapist and getting out from my panic zone and becoming more proactive in my anxiety /panic .

How much co-pay is to your therapist ~~i know its varies according to insurance .

But looking at cost ~is it worth !!

I need but i feel loss of words to talk with therapist !

Hi Cilly,

I think I remember that my co-pay was around $40 or so? It was worth every penny.

Even if I had not been covered...I would have found some way to afford going as much as I could...

When you do find someone to see...let me know and I will pull up a helpful thread about going to your first visit...what to expect, ect.

Hi Cilly

I am pleased to read that you are looking for a therapist as I feel therapy is by far the best way to move forwards with being able to deal and manage your anxiety. What kind of therapy are you looking for? CBT and Mindfulness are two which work well but there are others.

My co-pay is $35. I think that's a little on the high side, though. I think most of the people in my office pay less. But like SC said, worth every penny!

My co-pay is 70.00 because my doctor didn't re-up with my insurance company. So yours should be much less.

My co-pay is $30 but now I don't pay anything bc we met our deductible months ago. Before I was married and was poor w/no insurance, I saw a therapist on a sliding scale fee. I think I paid $25/session.

Cilly- I know you're scared but it's going to be ok & it will be a good thing.

Start making a list now of anything you want to work on. It will take time to get through that list in therapy & sometimes other things may come up that you discuss in a session. It's going to take time but it'll be worth it.

Contact your insurance or look online at your ins website, and get a list of therapists in your network. Start calling them one by one and ask if they specialize in anxiety & depression, marital issues etc. When you find one that does, make an appt. It's kind of hit or miss how you choose a therapist unless someone refers you to a therapist they know.

My suggestion would be to find an MSW, LCSW or MFT. Psychologists are good but they tend to be more clinical in my experience. You just talk to them like you do to us here. It's ok to cry, laugh, talk about sensitive topics. There are no rules. I also take a notebook & pen to take notes if I feel like it.

I went to www.psychologytoday.com and pulled up a list of therapists in my area (and by "my area" I mean the one I eventually chose to hook up with is a 45-55 minute drive each way).

You can call them. You can interview them. You're entitled to a meet-n-greet w/o committing yourself. And you may find that fees vary. Some provide sliding fee scales.

I was given the name of this site by the social worker at one of my oncologist's office, as a source to find therapists of all makes, models, types, specialties, etc....

Needless to say, I'm a happy camper. I got a keeper...

Lot of good input from everyone... So happy for you for taking control of this disorder and showing it who the boss is!

I go to the VA... I see some bad press about them on the news but the VA has ALWAYS been a blessing to me!

Hope you find a good, affordable therapist soon!
