This is a poem I wrote some years back...I hope you like it.
A FLOWER BY ANY OTHER NAME
A field of sand
In the barren land
Giving birth to nothing...
When a little flower
Bravely grew upward
To sit alone amongst the sand
There in the barren land.
This flower bloomed
And blessed the land
Prettily framed
By the golden sand.
Bravely growing
From a tiny seed
Never knowing what it has achieved.
Across the land
And through the sand
Came walking there,
A thankless man.
Seeing the bud
He called it a weed,
This little flower grown
From a tiny seed.
As it sat alone
Amongst the barren land
Prettily framed
By the golden sand
It withered away that very day.
Born a flower
And died a weed.
The thankless man
Knew not what he had achieved.

Wow (almost in tears)! That was honest, pure, and just raw! I loved it! Heck, I feel like I live it!
Hugging your neck for sharing that with us!
Can't thank you enough Janet for sharing that with us! What a blessing it was to read!
TMA - thanks for encouraging her - wow!
Would love to see more!

Janetlee,
That is simply beautiful... The imagery especially, I can see that flower blooming there, what a brave little flower. And when the man walked in, I imagined black boots trudging through the sand. He never even knew the braveness of that flower. A weed??! My was he confused! Thank you so much for sharing. I am going to sit here and read it a few more times to really let it sink in.
Have a beautiful night!
You too C!

in the seas of time,
fly does the albatros;
the moon gives joy,
fear not of time-
truth be known,
the sea is aglow.
to tame a heart,
burden the flame,
a dove cries high-
bleed does the day-
joy of pain;
tomorrow is yesterday-
today is washed away.
the seas of shame
awash with tears,
the journey begins.
the talisman awaits,
not for fate.
the sky is long
the tide forever strong,
adrift i flow,
for the seas of sun
is where i go.

flail thy sword,
adorn thy shield-
ready your steel,
ablaze i stand
fight we will,
fight for this land.
mighty is the strong,
crush the enemy,
sever their throat,
smash their skulls-
blood adorns my hands.
no one will stay,
none to return,
in this crusade-
stand and fight-
if i die, it is earned.
pain.......
war, the evil that men do
no more.
the battle cry i sing,
the curdling of blood begins-
for today is where life begins.
brothers in arms,
side by side we stand and fall,
gristle does the mill,
this war,
this ill
is my bitter pill.
