Escitalopram 10mg

Hello all,

I have been taking Escitalopram 10mg for a week now. It makes me feel jittery and sick to my stomach. I feel like I have the shakes from inside my body. Anyone else experience this? Could just be the anxiety but I really think it's a side effect.

Hi

I used to take Escitalopram and found it to be a good medication but we are all different when it comes to AD and what works well for one person may not work as well for an other. It is usual when first starting a medication that you hive a spike in your anxiety and things may seem worse for a while but things usually settle after a couple of weeks so I would stick with it if you can. If things don't improve after an other week I would go back and see your doctor. I hope it works well for you keep us posted.

Thanks for the reaponse! I just find it hard to deal with this while at work. Can't really focus and having the shakes sucks! :)

Moose,

Hopefully your body will become adjusted to the medication very soon. Usually those side effects start to curb around the two week mark:)

I am sorry that you are having what seems to be start up effects of your Rx.:(

Like Hibee and M2G&Q mentioned, these should phase out, but it is difficult for now to deal with, I'm sure.

You may be able to get an anti nausea med from your doctor as you become accustomed to the A/D...give your doctor's office a call and ask about this possibility.

Use your coping skills such as breathing and progressive muscle relaxation to help calm the shakes.

Knowing that this is temporary, and that you will likely end up with and Rx that will really help you will hopefully see you through.:)

Spoke to the doc today. He wants me to work through the side effects for another week.. This is going to be a long week!!

I am on Escitalopram 20mg and have been for years. It seemed like it was a good two weeks before I started to notice a difference. And then after a month I was increased from 10mg to 20mg.

Great job on talking with your doctor about your concerns...and good for you on being willing to try and tough it out! :)

Doc says I can half the dose for 2 weeks and than go back up to a full pill. He is leaving it up to me. My dilemma now is, I woke up today with no shakes. I still had an upset stomach but I think my body is now getting used to the meds. I'm thinking of just toughing it out and staying at the full dose in hopes the side effects are slowly going away.
