Hey there! First let me say that everyone's "treatment program" and personal (physical and mental) needs are different. What may be a good treatment plan for one may not be good for another.
Try to wrap your mind around that successful treatment does not take place in a matter of weeks - it's usually a lifelong journey of coping skills, therapy, healthy distractions, and yes - medication.
This is a forum full of support and encouragement and don't let anyone on here "scare" you over the tapering process and don't stress yourself too much over the "W word" - withdrawal. Just don't try the tapering or 'weaning' process yourself. Stay connected to your doctor and you will be as comfortable as possible during these phases, I promise!
Just don't be in too big of a hurry to get off the meds (especially if they are helping you). Usually, people are on SSRIs for years before they even consider switching or tapering. This decision is made with your doctor, allow him to monitor your progress.
Thank you for your post... Hope this helps a little. In the meantime, keep practicing and developing your coping skills!
Later friend!
