There is actually a way to avoid C. word (or any word) when searching. I know, a few of us can really resist searching conditions/symptoms. If you really can't help but search in the end, there can be a tactic to prevent panic related to the search results with C. word.
My husband told me, I tried and it works. If you have a question type like this for ex. "Back pain -cancer" if you type a minus (-) right before the word you don't want to read about, google searches all content and titles and then it doesn't show the results with that word you don't want to read about. This includes the content text in the page also. Just type it on google main page search box, it didn't work too well at the google search bar at top toolbar.
Well yeah if you can, don't do the searching. But if you can't, when you get results of thousands of conditions which share same symptoms as you described, maybe will make you see that actually it's more likely a normal condition than a dangerous one. Maybe works well for calming down, I don't know.
I am sorry if this sounds like I courage to google, but I know we can't resist...
