Does GERD cause anyone shortness of breath?

I don't have GERD but tonight I've had indigestion & bloating. Somehow I'm not freaking out over it. I'm a bit disturbed though, bc after feeling acid come up, I then felt mild shortness of breath that has continued now for a couple of hours.

I have been known to experience SOB w/anxiety but it's not a typical symptom for my anxiety, not to mention I'm calm tonight.

I want to say yes. When I first started having issues, I felt generally bad and became winded easily. It wasn't a heart issue like I thought.

What did you eat?

Well, when I was researching my burping problem, I read that GERD can cause shortness of breath. Not sure how or why, but sure it is a symptom of it:)

It was junk! A piece of sugar free chocolate (I know, sounds gross but when you eat low carb, sometimes you want a sweet). The sugar alcohol in it can cause gastric issue :(((

I'm assuming this is what the culprit was.

My husband told me throw them out & I'm going to!

If I knew which tooth was my sweet one, I'd pull it! LOL

Good for throwing them out. Chocolate in itself is a common trigger food for reflux. You also have to avoid bending over or lying down a few hours after eating. Also don't eat late.

I hope this doesn't happen to you again. Email me if it keeps recurring.

I was totally laying on the floor on my stomach playing with my dog! We'd eaten dinner only 2 hrs or less, earlier. My SOB is better now!

Sadly, I'm a pro with reflux. Luckily reflux is usually very inconsequential. In my case it wasn't, but I'm a freak. However, follow up with me if you keep having issues like I said.

I was diagnosed with GERD years ago, and a hiatal hernia)I always thought it was pronounced a hianal hernia, until an ER doctor corrected me after finding it very amusing.

My GERD has been off the chain this week, but it could be because I am gorging myself and it hits in my sleep which is very scary because I feel like I am choking.(I know eating issues of off topic but this is just what I have been doing)

I have a thing of tums by my bed which only helps a little, when I gain weight I have so many problems with my GERD, the only issues I have ever had eating any low carb candy is it can give me diarrhea.

Yeah Lisa, I am not dx.ed with either GERD or Hiatal Hernia myself but I am pretty sure I have GERD, because my dad had it and mom have it (ulcer also), and I have lots of heartburn/acid problems, especially right after eating. I also have immediate discomfort at my upper stomach area where my diaphragm is, when I eat or right after I eat.

All of these cause SoB for me, much more than my anxiety does actually. I also don't have significant SoB as anxiety symptom.
I never went to dr for digestive issues but I recommend you to have your reflux thingy checked, since it's not good for us to diagnose ourselves :) I plan to have it checked, not because I am scared or anything but I will get something to relieve my symptoms probably. You can always buy an over the counter med for reflux and test if it relieves your SoB meanwhile.
