I think Scaredy Cat had some great advice! I have similar anxiety during that "time" but have learned to diffuse it with self-talk like, "This is just anxiety." "This is uncomfortable, but this is not going to last forever." "This too shall pass."
I believe self-talk helps my mind get a grip and be able to ride out those terrible feelings/thoughts a little better. Also, if there is any "pampering" that you can do during this time, that helps as well. Relaxing bubble baths, cucumbers on the eyes, bagels with cream cheese, white hot chocolate, hmmmmmm.....anything you find relaxing!!
