Princess, do you have IBS-D or C? I wonder if I should try Prilosec? I've taken it before but I swear it was for reflux or something?
It is for GERD, but some docs put their patients on it and see relief. I dont know what Princess's doc is thinking or not thinking, but if it works id say theres more to IBS at play. Reason I say that, if someone has IBS AND silent GERD, the excess acid will inflame the intestines. Prilosec can help here. But if there is no excess acid, or inflammation of the esophagus and stomach due to H Pylori or such bacteria, Prilosec or any PPI is wrong for you as an IBS sufferer. PPI's in this situation(zero esophagus/stomach issue) will lower or eliminate normal acid production and potentially create or
open the door to bacterial overgrowth in the intestine, a situation called SIBO. Be careful using these meds!
