Visiting Grandma Today

...my daughter had a very sick friend a while back, and I would take her to the children's hospital to visit. It was pretty brutal as far as hospital visits go...lots of kids with fatal conditions...

However, you rally, and do what you need to do for the loved one.

You will want to decompress afterward however...so that you don't get hit with anxiety after the fact.

Use your coping skills...journal about it...come talk to us, ect...

It went pretty smoothly. Walking through those hospital walls was a lot. My chest broke out in the usual stress rash and I got shaky once we got into my grandmas room. I excused myself to the bathroom and my partner followed me and told me to take some deep breaths and be brave. After splashing cold water on my face, I was able to lay next to her on her hospital bed and we spoke for about half an hour. She was in good spirits today, and they were able to put her on a nasal cannula as opposed to a full oxygen mask. Rejoicing in the little things. My mom took my grandfather (a nearly immobile man) to visit her, and while they're gone im making a roasted chicken and some sweet potatoes. I'm glad I was able to spend time with her.

I'm so glad you got to spend that time with her! Way to go for working through your feelings at the hospital too. I know for some people a hospital can really get their nerves going.
