Said goodbye to my grandmother

brings back memories about saying good bye to my dad in hospice
I had to be back at work 1200 miles away and he had slipped into....a morphine induced total slumber
I asked the hospice nurse- do you think he'll ever come awake again?
She said- sometimes they will rally around one more time.
I said oh...because I have to go home soon.
She said- he'll be going home soon too.
They know the signs...he passed that night while I was still there.
Obviously I did not go right home but because I was in a new job- the same hateful one I'm still at...
We made the arrangements really quick and I really didn't have the proper time to grieve.

If your gut says that this was your goodbye, then it could be so...and it is good that you had that closure time with her.

I knew when my dad was going to pass. We got a phone call that he had fallen ill...and I just knew.

My mom assured me that this was not the case, he was only in his 50's afterall...but I couldn't be swayed.

I did not get to his side in time (I am in Califonia, he was in Texas) so, sad to say, I did not get to really say goodbye.

Therefore I am so glad that you have been able to do this...

....and you never know, you may have more time still!

I pray this is the case, as well as for comfort for her, you and the whole family!

I'm so sorry you have to go thru this. I have been thru it with both of parents and know how difficult it is.
