I am really glad that you find this a comfortable place to share. That is the highest praise we can get...and part of what makes HW great, and a place I am proud to be a part of! :)
As far as your question goes...I am a dance teacher/choreographer, so I am familiar with disordered eating. I have been on both sides, both as sufferer and educator.
Binge eating is definitely a coping mechanism. It shuts out feeling, and occupies us in a sensory way. We don't have to think or feel for the time we are busy with our crutch of food. So yes, this could be in response to anxiety.
Beyond that, it could be exacerbating your physical symptoms, thus continuing the anxiety cycle.
When I have eaten too much, bloating can happen, and the pressure from the stomach can make the palps worse, or at least more noticable.
Conversely, if you are starving (as an offset to bingeing) then blood sugar levels will drop...resulting in...you guessed it...palps!
...so striving to eat small, frequent and healthy meals is a great plan to break this cycle.
Also, talking to your doctor about healthy eating plans along with the others things you need to discuss would be a good move when you go in.
A healthier you is just a decision and one small step away. Little changes everday will add up...and soon you will be feeling so good, you won't want to do anything but that which keeps you feeling so well.:)
Encouragement going out your way!!
