I'm posting this in the depression forum, too. I hope that's okay. I am getting ready to start my third week on Zoloft 100mgs. I feel like I'm living a nightmare. My head feels cloudy and I am having spikes of anxiety. I've been feeling so depressed and I don't know why. I just keep breaking down in tears. I just feel hopeless.

Princess, your not hopeless by any means what so ever, this med takes a while longer to kick in than you
have been taking it, give it six weeks to two months, your life will transform, Peace

I usually have anxiety more than depression (at least that I recognize although a doc would probably say otherwise) but I have had a few bouts of very severe depression and they were horrible. I thought the depression would never end and I felt as hopeless as you. I never went on antidepressants because for some reason I was afraid of them (like I am of all meds) but I did take a low dose of Xanax which helped the anxiety part of it. It took almost a year for me to pull myself out of the depression but it did finally go away. During this time I read alot about
depression and one author (a psychiatrist) said that depression usually goes away on it's own within a year but so many people are fearful that it will never end that they go on antidepressants to hopefully end it right away. I'm not telling you not to take an antidepressant because apparently they do help alot of people but at least you should know that not matter what you do, it will probably lessen on its own eventually. Obviously in the meantime you should be in contact with a doctor to see what is the best route for you to take. I have recently considered going on an ad myself because my anxiety has taken me into a depression which oftentimes can happen. I wish you all the luck in finding your best cure but be assured that we all understand what you're going through.

Larry is right it takes a little longer. In the meantime do the mindfulness meditation and deep breathing videos on YouTube. Also many great resources on this site listed on first page. Helps alot. If you're not better in a couple more weeks discuss with your doctor. Sending positive thoughts.

Hang in there Mel. Your side effects should start to subside any time now. Good luck.
