I read so many here in a huge worry syndrome, I was probably there many yrs ago and I still have concern for a lot, but constant worry can only make one more sick. The only control we truly have is the little circle of ourselves....

When I had a major issue with a close family member, I found Alanon principles and those support groups lifesaving...and they are FREE....so much support and wise people from these AA principles offshoot groups.

I remember some of the meetings I attended, I met people who had no loved ones in "trouble" with the addiction worlds, but they attended the group for their own personal growth and helping them to get thru life with more ease.....

Worry traps us and slows everything down, no flow with worry.

We can have concern and we have to learn to "let go" too as we can't control everything including others...

Just a thought from this saged person who's been thru it all.....we must take care of ourselves or we fall apart. J


I also found so much Peace when I found the Science of Mind churches/study groups, they are in most major cities and talk about making our lives easier....Freedom is the best word for me from these principles....

I will add here, when I had some HUGE obstacles I was dealing with in my life yrs ago some older wonderful mostly women, gave me some great advice to get me out of my stinkin thinkin.....

My daughter is raising her children, now teens, with the principles she learned in the "program"....and these children are getting head starts and hopefully will keep them in good thinking mindsets...

Wish I had that growing up, but I didn't.....most of us didn't....the lucky few who do are very fortunate....

Thank you for sharing the things that have helped you along your journey to wellness.

AA, NA and Alanon are all solid groups with effective principles for not only substance abuse issues, but like you said...simply 'life' issues! ;)

I am glad you are finding lasting benefit through them. Thanks for sharing, and may you continue to be do, and feel well!

Yes, S.C. when I did arrive at Alanon, I found so many of the principles I learned in S.O.M. teachings....i had a head start so to speak, not a virgin to this thnking. I'd still be attending the Thurs evening group, but since hip replacement mess, I'm really grounded a LOT.....not what I expected for sure.

I remember at one point while living in San Jose, CA, met a woman at work and talking to her, I just knew she was coming from the S.O.M. mindset and sure enough she was we hugged and laughed and talked about how fortunate we were to live this path, and if only most others only did....

As they say in S.O.M...."When the student is ready, the teacher will appear"....

One has to be ready to change...some are forced in some ways. J
