WZ,
Maybe trying to seperate the two issues will help...
Yes, your last therapist, we all agree was NOT helping you in many ways...
...but perhaps her guidance of using an Rx to help you manage your anxiety was not off...
especially considering you have a second of that opinion/advice from your GP.
You can still acknowledge that your former therapist was toxic, and yet still accept that you may benefit from your prescription.
These are two seperate issues when viewed this way.
That said...taking meds is a personal and significant choice. Think about it, make a list of pros and cons, explore your alternatives, so you are making the most informed decision possible.
I know I have mentioned it before, but using the coping skills here in our Resources for self-help will also assist you in your anxiety management.
You may even find yourself ready to seek another therapist in time and try again to get the GOOD help that you need from a mental health professional.
We support you in whatever you ultimately decide to do. There is hope...hang in there and keep talking with us.
S.C.
