Hi everyone!
I hope you are all doing well today.
I need some reassurance if it's possible. I ran out of Lexapro and can't get my refill until tomorrow and I did not want to miss a dose because when I've done that i have had terrible side Effects. Well since I cut them in half to take only 5 mg I started looking in my drawer to see If maybe I could find one and I did, so I took it. Im sure that that pill has been there for months, but it looked fine. Now Im almost having a panic attack, because I think that pill is goint to be bad and harmful, my husband says it will not, but I can't stop thinking about
it.
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!

You'll be fine. Pills have a year to expire after the pharmacy fills them, but even then they are safe. I took a pain pill once that was 2 years old and was fine and the pill worked. :) If you're worried about
it you can always call the pharmacy and ask.

AR,
It will not harm you...it has not 'gone bad' per say....
The worst case scenario is that the efficacy could be reduced due to age...but likely this has not even happened.
I hope that you can get your refill tomorrow with no problem.:)

Thank you! You too are very kind. And I am sure you are both right, but now I feel weird. Dizzy, with hot flashes, upset stomach. Is it all in my head?

It is probably the anxiety, you worked yourself up about
the pill you took and I'm sure what you are experiencing is the symptoms from the anxiety you felt. Do you take any benzo's ex: xanax, ativan, klopin? if so maybe try taking one and see if your symptoms subside. Hope you feel better soon.

...could be, like I said...
Rx's lose their efficacy with age, which in most cases is the only reason for the expiration date.
So it could be that you are just not getting the coverage that you should.
Use your coping skills to get you through until tomorrow!

You're fine i've taken Benadryl before and later realized it was about
5 years expired! All that happens is it loses its potency..it doesn't hurt you. Just breathe

Thank you all! I had a very rough afternoon, but I'm feeling much better now. It was definitely my head playing tricks on me once again.
You were all very helpful!

Hi
As the others have said you will be fine.
As you mentioned your anxiety was playing tricks on you but you got through it and I am pleased you are feeling better.
