I'm so sorry you had such a bad panic attack. It sounds like you used your coping skills. If going somewhere you feel safe helps you, I say do it.
I just had this happen in the drive thru at the pharmacy. I was blocked in by vehicles, so had to just ride it out. Boy, did I want to get out of that car and run. I had my Jake (service dog) with me, and he senses when my heart starts racing, so he nuzzles me, and it really does help.
I reminded myself that I'm a half mile from home. I turned the radio station to listen to music I don't normally listen to. I rummaged in my purse to find gum wrappers, etc. that needed to be thrown away. Anything to distract myself. Then the cars moved again, and I got it under control.
As a side-note, you mentioned the bloated stomach. I have asthma, and when it flares, I breathe heavily of course. I get more air into my stomach than into my lungs. The same thing happens when I have an anxiety attack. This causes the bloated feeling, and has caused me to be sick before.
