Hello all,
I am currently on Zoloft but don't seem to be helping in anxiety or depression,I get angry and panicky at night time.
Very frustrated with medication switching ,it's making me more anxiety filled

Hey Cilly! <3
How long have you been on Zoloft? I am wondering because the great deal of SSRIs' healing effects come after around 6 months or so. That's the reason why DRs usually prescribe for at least 6 months in the beginning, to see how it is going.
If you are new to Zoloft, it really can take some time to show notable effects. And you can always discuss with your dr about
increasing the dose. I think it's best to tell your worries to your dr, so you two can find a better solution.
Please keep us updated :)

Hi
Sorry to hear you are having a though time at the moment.
Starting up or changing medication can be a tough time and it is the norm to feel worse before you start to feel better again so stick with it if you can and use any self help you have to help bring your anxiety down I good way to do this is by using Mindfulness Meditation.

Inci, I didn't know it was six months! Geez! My impression was 30 days.

I think she meant that drs. prescribe it for long term use...at the very least for six months...so as not to have patients going on and off again quickly...
She didn't mean it takes that long to be effective.

Cilly,
I too am interested in knowing how long you have been on your current Rx and dose.
Like the others mentioned...it can take several weeks for therapeutic effects to be noted.
Try to stay in contact with your doctor about
how it is going, use your coping skills and do your best to hang in there!
With support,
S.C.

Cilly, think about
this, almost any of the med's prescribed will help you but they must reach a therapeutic
value in your system, more importantly commitment is the most important factor with any of these med's.
What you are dealing with is not a terminal illness, it's a condition and it will pass with time and help,
be your own best friend and stick with a plan, Peace

It does NOT take 6 months to build up, it takes 6 to 12 weeks depending on the medication for it to reach full potential. Let's not all panic over the 6 months, :)

Hi
Each medication is different and can take anywhere between 6 to 12 weeks for the full benefits to be noticed but they can start to work before this time.

Lol yeah, of course I didn't mean that it takes effect after 6 months xD
I meant just as S.C. said, it starts showing effects after a month, in around 6 months most people tend to feel like "Oh so cool, I am cured! " but that's when the drs decide to continue medication, stop it, reduce/increase the dose, etc... after diagnosing the patient again :)
At least this is what I know from my 6 years of SSRI experience ^^ Though, the situation differs from person to person, dr to dr.
