Had a rough Sunday and still not feeling well

I need some positive vibes please.
Since my episode of anxiety that started a little over a year ago, I have not been very found of holidays. That is mainly because I live by myself and do not like to spend too much idle time in the afternoons.

I have had a great 2 weeks prior to yesterday, including spending time with friends on the 4th. But since yesterday, I have been feeling a bit anxious again (level 2-3) and sad. I have had many of these cycles already and not sure when it will all get better. Can anyone else relate?
I figure this is part of the healing process, but it is difficult and brings on a feeling of hopelessness at times.

Any positive affirmation would help please

I am on 20mg of Lexapro, 1mg of Klonopin and do therapy twice a week, including CBT talk therapy

Hi Lexa, I'm sorry you are feeling like this. How long have you been on the Lexapro? Sorry I can't remember when you started it. Also are you currently in therapy?

Recovery is a up and down process, know that you got over this before and you will again. Keep using your coping skills to get your thru this.

Long weekends and holidays are wonderful...but also mean a disruption of our routines...

...and though you had a good time on the Fourth (which is GREAT to hear!)...

...it is still a change, and even postive change and extra stimulation can rock the boat!

I bet you will be back on track very soon. Use those coping skills, and have faith that this is a tiny little detour, and not a setback in the least.:)

I have been on 20mg of Lexapro for 8 months now. I have noticed a big shift for better when I got up to 20mg. At one point my doctor was recommending going up to 30mg, but he says that since I have been having longer stretches of good days, we might not need to.

One of my issues is comparing with others who don't have this issue and are not on medication and living their lives very happy. I was one of them slightly more than a year ago and I pray and trust that I will be back there again. It is strange that when I feel some anxiety, I feel sad with it.

Any input on how to stop comparing. I would like to start a new thread on this topic. Hope that is ok

Sure. Holidays are an especially lonely time for me, so I can relate. If I go and have some fun, I become very depressed because the fun has come and gone. While I'm having the fun, I think about it coming to an end. It's difficult to do, but I try to remember when Dr. Seuss said, "Be glad it happened and don't be sad it's over."

Most importantly, just remember... this, too, shall pass.

Hi Lex

I can relate on this one and I know a lot of members struggle also with holidays as SC mentioned it is a change in your routine which can be disruptive.

I am pleased to hear you are in therapy talk things through with your therapist and see what they suggest re coping skills.

Lexapro is a good AD imo but 20mg is the max dose if it was me I would be unhappy about going up to 30mg. Lexapro is the strongest out of all the ssri's hence a low max dose it is also a very activating AD so best taken in the morning. Remember I am not a doctor and the above it just my personal opinion so always best to discuss things with your doctor.

Do you still have anxiety despite taking your medication and coping mechanisms?
I hear you on the Lexapro. I don't have any intentions of increasing it at this time. Knowing that I have good to great days/weeks, I would have to believe it is working well. The ups and downs are probably part of the healing process. Also, I am in a much better place now than I was a year ago when this whole episode started.
