psych eval?

hey everyone. i've been having in home therapists come to my house to do talk therapy with me for my anxiety panic depressive and post traumatic stress disorders for a few weeks now once a week. theres two of them and soon they will be rotating and doing once a week each for me so will be twice a week im thinking. well they both came yesterday and we all talked about a psych evaluation with a psychiatrist. they will give me transportation so I don't have a panic attack while driving so thatll be some relief. (when I get them and im driving, out of nowhere with no warning, I get to the point where I black out) but my question is has anyone else ever had a psych eval done? ive seen quite a few therapists and ive never had one done, so was wondering what they do and what happens after that. thanks in advance!

I am so excited to hear of all the help you are receiving through this program...it is just incredible!! :)

Here are a couple of links that will give you a general idea of what your testing may be like. It could vary of course...depending on material used, but this should represent a rough idea for you.

Hi

It is great to hear you are getting all the support you need talking therapy really is the best way to beat your anxiety/depression.

With regards to a psych evaluation I would not worry about it to much I have had a couple of them over the years and have always found them helpful. The psychiatrist will ask you to fill out some forms to begin with which taken around 30min to fill in then will ask you a series of questions and ask you about the problems you have been having. From this evaluation he will make a diagnosis if their are any new ones and set up an action plan for you.

Thank you!! Your input has helped a lot now I understand a little more about what is going to happen. I did ask the therapists about it but I honestly don't even know what they said. Sometimes I have to ask people to repeat what they say to me and I didn't want to this time because I didn't want to get on their nerves. I had already zoned out a few times while they were asking me questions and they had to repeat, ha ha, it can get pretty embarrassing!

I am pleased you found the above info useful I know what you mean re zoning out during a therapy session as that happens to me also but don't feel bad about asking your therapist to repeat what they said as I think they are used to this and it's not much of a problem.
