Advice on changing medication

Nineteen years is a long time!...

...as you know, sometimes meds lose their efficacy, or, 'poop out' after a certain amount of time...

...so actually you have had a good run with your Celexa.

Anytime you are switching Rx's, there is going to be a chance of side effects...

...less so if staying within the same family of medication...but a chance nonetheless.

Talking with your doctor about all you can do to reduce the risk of this occurrence as much as possible is a good move.

...and practicing your coping skills now in order to be strong with them during transition.

I think a positive mentality is crucial to get the most gains when changing medication (whether it's a different one or a dose change). I believe that if you embrace the change as a positive step, it will ripple and improve your quality of life.

When things get tough, try to reassure yourself with a positive mantra, even if during that very moment you don't believe it because of how horrible you feel. It strengthens neural pathways so you will associate the mantra with improvement/calm that comes after panic subsides. It's a skill I'm trying to develop at the moment, and initial findings are positive.

I hope whatever you and your doctor decide to do, it all goes well.

Aw Bam....that isn't you! Don't get mad at yourself. ..be angry at the anxiety...that is what is causing the negative feelings/behaviors!

Make an appointment with your doctor, and come up with a plan of action.:)

I am sure you can and will start to feel better with a change/adjustments.

BTW, does your therapist have an input on this?...
...and have you ever considered consulting a P-doc for your Rx needs?

I agree with JC Lexapro is a good medication imo and works well for anxiety but discuss things with your prescribing doctor.
