Whether by nature or nuture (or combo of both!) that we come by our anxiety...there is usually a catalyst or trigger that we are either cognizant of, or not...
...in your case you are aware of the origins of what has contributed to your anxiety.
While the memories are of course difficult, you at least have a known factor for the issues that challenge you...and can therefore deal with them.
I am sorry that you had a disturbing dream.:( I know how these feel, and how they can follow you around throughout the day...
I hope that you can use your coping skills such as journaling to help you further bring the thoughts and feelings surrounding your past to the surface...and purge it.
Is this something you will perhaps be/are working on in therapy as well?
