I have been having extreme issues with my anxiety, mainly health anxiety for about
a month and a half. It was doable for awhile but now it's front and center in my life. The only thing taking the edge off is a couple of glasses of wine in the evening (at least it's the dark red variety). I'm literally tired of the constant tight head, neck and chest muscles, jaw clenching and pains, shortness of breath, and feeling restless and wound up all the time. I've journaled, done breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and taken my benzos almost daily, but it seems my coping skills aren't working. I periodically bury my head on my couch or pillow and cry til I can't anymore because I feel like I'm losing it. I spent most of the weekend with my son and grandson. Though we have fun together, the anxiety and body scanning is always at the back of my mind. I feel at such a loss for sensible words to tell my doctor how I feel without sounding like a bambling idiot. My apt is today at 11:45 Pacific time and I'm just uptight not to mention scared of them wanted to do tests or something and finding something. Just can't get the "what ifs" out of my head which makes me more uptight.

MSP,
Read Hibee's latest post! He was a Rockstar and just got the all clear from his latest tests!
I am a poor example, as I too have been putting off my yearly tests now for a while and need to make appointments!!
Great job on taking the step of making the appointment!! Take it one thing at a time...at least you are going in, and that is the important thing.:)
Let us know how it went...and know that we go with you in spirit!

I can really relate to this. I dread doctor's appointments so much! In the end, we have to know that we are being proactive about
our health.
Not going or not having tests won't change anything anyway.
Wishing you calming thoughts, and a great appointment that will bring you some peace of mind.

So I went to my doctor's appt. She was very nice and understanding and looked at my most recent blood work which was all good. She increased my benzo dosage for six weeks as she said I'm on a pretty low dose now. If that doesn't help, she'll increase my Effexor too. She wants to take it one step at a time. I told her all the symptoms I've been having and she said it all points to increased anxiety and asked about
any recent triggers. I told her that the only thing I could think of was I work two jobs and they're both stressful and really busy plus I worry about
family stuff but that's just my nature to be a worry wort. Anyway, she's totally sure it's anxiety....and so my story goes. I'm just mentally beat right now.

I'm glad you were able to get a little worry relief. Hopefully the med increase will do the trick.

I'm glad she was able to provide some relief for you. I'm so bad at getting my yearly checkups that I probably need to do the same!
Hugs!

Hi MSP
I am pleased to hear your doctors appointment went well they can be very anxiety provoking especially when you are waiting for test result.
That is good news that your tests came back fine now you need to put them to the back of your mind and work on reducing your anxiety keep taking small steps every day.
Keep us posted.
