I haven't drank or smoked since I had my panic attacks 2 months ago... I still be feeling anxious so it obviously wasn't the alcohol or smoking that caused it.

What you guys think about me have a cold refreshing beer with dinner?

If you are on medication(s) please check with your Dr. or Pharmacist if you can mix alcohol with them. Some medication have "do not drink alcohol" warning, some do not. If your medication(s) have a "do not drink Alcohol" warning then please do not drink.

If you are not on medications then a Beer with dinner would more than likely be okay.

I drink alcohol, and find that it is fine, as long as I limit it to 1 or two drinks at most...occasionally.

Anything over this for me is asking for trouble, as over imbibing can increase anxiety.

I do not take meds, so interactions aren't an issue for me...

...however, know that alcohol and benzodiazepines is an absolute no-no. So they should not be consumed in the same evening.

An SSRI/SNRI, or other A/D's should be checked with your prescribing doctor. Some say moderate alcohol consumption while on these is okay...some say not...

Safety and moderation is a good goal.:)

Thanks for the fast responses lol

I have been prescribed Xanax but I have never taken it. So I'm guessing I should be fine. I think 1 beer will be good. My alcohol tolerance probably dropped a lot lol

I haven't had a beer since December 2014, there has been times that I wanted to have a drink but didn't because I take lorazepam daily since January. I never liked taking meds and now I'm scared of not taking it, but I recommend you try 1 or 2 to see how you feel, you don't want to overdue it and feel bad.

Soulbreaker sorry to hear that but hey, as long as the medication is working then you should just enjoy that at least !

I'll have one. I used to drink a lot but stopped after I got "diagnosed" with anxiety. It's on and off and it's not to the extreme I nee to be on regular medication. But there are days it's really bad. It's definanlty messed with my head big time. Seeing specialist left and right

I drink regularly and as long as I don't over do it multiple nights in a row it has no effect on me or my medication.

In saying that, I couldn't drink during my med start up period as it made me majorly anxious the next day.

As for the smoking part, i know I can never touch the stuff again, makes me really anxious and I am positive my heavy use in the past has contributed to my condition now. I'd give it a big miss mate.

Hi

This question comes up a lot on the forum.

I tend to avoid alcohol these days but that is because I take a combination of meds and find alcohol affects me much quicker. I do however have the occasional drink but as the others have said make sure you don't over do it.

I take Zoloft and Xanax. I never purposely mix alcohol with my Xanax, but I may take one a few hours before I go out and then forget and have a glass of wine with dinner. I've never had a negative reaction. Maybe I get a little tired, but in that case I don't care to keep drinking anyway. Just be responsible. 😊
