Head Injury Concerns

Hi everybody. On Tuesday I had to be taken to the hospital because I fell while I was going up the stairs.(which I don't even remember happening) But anyway, the doctors did a CT scan and it initially showed that I had bleeding on the brain. They also did a X-ray of my left shoulder as it was causing me pain(I apparently fell on it when I fell on the stairs) and they said it was a muscle sprain. I was gonna be kept in the ICU at the hospital I was at, but it was full so I was transferred to another hospital. I stayed at that hospital overnight and the next day they did another CT scan and that time it showed that it wasn't bleeding on the brain that it was bruising in between the brain and skull. I was later removed from the ICU there and put in a regular room. I stayed another night and I had a CT scan of my shoulder and it was a minor fracture. So now I have to wear a sling around it for the next couple of weeks.

I'm home now and the doctors prescribed me some anti-seizure meds and some pain meds for my shoulder. But even though I feel fine for the most part(aside from the sling on my shoulder) and don't have any symptons I can't help but be concerned about my head. I know the CT scans didn't show anything extremely series, but now this has me thinking back to how Natasha Richardson passed away.

No it actually was never discovered why I fell. The strangest thing is like I mentioned, I don't even remember falling to begin with. This happened around 10 on Tuesday morning. I do remember a couple hours earlier my sister had woke me up to ask me something and then I went back to sleep. Next thing I know, I'm in my clothes and she and my mother are taking me out to the car. I don't remember waking up that time to get out of bed and going up the stairs(my room is in the basement of my house which is carpeted) at all.

Hi SC. Various members of the staff did ask me about the possibility of a seizure, but I just didn't know. I also don't drink, I don't smoke, nor was I on any kind of medication shortly before this happened. They also did check my blood pressure lots of times and it was in the normal range, though my heart rate was a bit high. They did a CT scan and an ultrasound of my chest and they were normal. So they figured that nerves/anxiety were the cause of that.

Even though my forehead and the area above my upper lip were bleeding(I had to get a stitch put in for the latter) I didn't really feel much pain in those areas. The most pain I felt was in my shoulder. I had trouble falling asleep my first night in the hospital because of that. Never felt dizzy or nauseous or anything.

I'm supposed to be going to see my PCP this coming Tuesday as well as having some follow ups with both the neurosurgeon and the doctor about my shoulder the week afterwards.

I'm sorry about you're fall. I hope you get well soon.
It's pretty normal to acquire some anxiety after the experience you've been through. I know you're worried about your head but you have to trust you're doctors and the CT scan result. If you're having trouble keeping a sound mind I would suggest that you go and consult a psychologist.
Did they specify why they gave you the anti-seizure medications? I think you should find out what causes the fall.
