Just want o feel better…..just don't know how

Hi all,

I remember those days when I did not worry obsessively. Then it's like a switch went off in my brain that I can't control. Like someone played a cruel trick on me, and now here I am being dominated by unhealthy worrisome thoughts. Health anxiety is my constant companion that I want to say good bye to. Is there anyone out there with this type of anxiety? I am on 150 mg zoloft, and 150 mg of wellbutrin. Are there other meds that have worked for others? I work in the medical field so I am aware of how medications can work differently on each individual…are there any standout meds that have worked for you?

I have had the switch go off in my head too, during a tremendously stressful period in my life when I was in my 20s. Honestly, what helped me the most was Klonopin (not the healthiest option, it turns out!) and Zoloft, but you're already on that. I have heard a lot of people had success with Prozac, although it didn't really help me that much when I was on it. As you said, everyone is different!

You might want to try a medication more geared toward anxiety... maybe that will help calm your mind into better places. I am not suggesting benzos (unless you're open to the idea) but you could try something else like Hydroxyzine.

Yes, I've tried numerous medicines in the past. Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, and Ativan all worked in reducing my panic attacks although they also had many inconvenient side effects that greatly affected my functionality.

What I find really helpful are counseling therapies and natural remedies in sorting out my condition. They are cheaper and have no side effects. I've tried Hemp oil products before. It has anxiolytic properties. If I'm not mistaken I think it's called endoca. I also tried bio-enzymes and fruit extracts. Try meditation, exercise and painting as well.

There are many approaches in dealing with this condition and not all will work best for you. The important thing is to consult your clinician before trying anything out. Ask for their permission.
