shaking, trembling feeling

Hi im new here but not to anxiety or panic. I am however having weird sensations. about 2 mnths ago I got food poisoning, or so I thought and it started with shaking in my stomach and then I got ibs symptoms. I get nauseas and then ibs d....Yesterday I went to the dr as the trembling feeling came back and he said that it sounds more like anxiety and ibs than food poisoning. He said the shaking is from my anxiety. ...Has anyone else felt this? Now im not sure if it's comimg from my heart or stomach or both. It calms down a bit with valium.

Hi xtie and welcome!

I am sorry you are going through these symptoms, as they are certainly uncomfortable!.:(

They do sound anxiety related to me. Food poisoning or the stomach flu would have both V and D...pretty constantly, for a determined period of time...often accompanied by fever and body aches.

This sounds more transient and on going, which is more typical of anxiety and IBS. Also the fact that the symptoms abate with your benzo is telling.

What have you done in terms of anxiety treatment? Any therapy of self help? We have great material in our Resources at the top of the main forum page. Check them out and give them a try.!

Hi xtie,

I had horrible shaking.

My Psychiatrist recommended getting my favorite blanket and putting it in the clothes dryer to heat it up then wrap it around myself. It worked, my shaking would stop.

If you have a clothes dryer in your home you might give it a try.

Thank you ScardyCat for the warm welcome and reply. I think you're right about the valium helping points to being anxiety related but sometimes my head goes to bad scenarios. I do see a therapist and am on the benzos and anti depressants. I will check out the resources on here as I can do with all the help I can get. Thank you again and hope your having a nice day/night.
Hi Snoopy thanks for replying. I think the blanket thing is an awesome idea and I will do that. ..I have a heat bag (wheat bags) and use that but a snuggly warm blanket would work much better. ..thank you.
Im not happy to hear you experience the shakes but im grateful you shared as this has been a new thing for me. I too have cptsd and it started around 2yrs old too. So my anxiety gets worse with new triggers and flashbacks.

Hello how are you,

I also had that shaking symptoms before every time have an episode of panic attacks. My panic attacks are caused by my anxiety, I also feel nauseous whenever I have an anxiety attack.

Normally valium would definitely work since it has anti-depressant/anxiolytic properties that calms us down. In my case however I opted to choose natural relaxation procedures, like aromatherapy, meditation, etc.

If you're still worried, it's advisable that you have your heart check by a cardiologist. I hope you get well soon. God Bless.

Hi JulesKantar . I do meditation but I still need something more on most days.
I have had my heart checked as my palpitations get really bad that they give me valium injections because I've had racing heart that lasted two all night and into the next day. Dr said if it's like that and he isn't tgere to go to er and get a shot. It's a terribleffeeling but having a panic attack that long is torture. It feels like they come in waves one panic attack after another. .arghh don't want to even think about it.

So glad to hear you are in therapy and doing a well rounded program for your anxiety/panic management.

I understand xtie and I am sorry you are needing to deal with this. Suppressed memories, triggers, needing to relive the past can be horrible. I never had valium injections but there were times I took over the prescribed dose of Klonopin (clonazepam) by 3 or 4 pills to try and remain in control (I would let my Dr. know when I did this). If I didn't do this I lost all rational thought.

Xtie, know that it can get better. For me, it took 10 years working with Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists, Klonopin (clonazepam) and a spiritual aspect to finally find peace and calm in my life. You can find it too.
