Is propranolol safe with chesty cough?

Hi everyone, I've been taking propranolol (alongside citalopram) for about 5 or so months at 40mg 2 or 3 times a day.
I've recently just got a really hacking chesty cough/tight chest/chest infection and I know that in some people propranolol can cause breathing difficulties. I'm really worried about taking my propranolol now as could make my breathing worse. I've just took half a tablet now as can feel my anxiety bad and am now really worried!!
If anyone could help I'd be really appreciative! thankyou

Hi Lucy,

I think this is a question for your prescribing doctor...as we can't advise you on whether this is something to be concerned about or not.

I have actually never heard of Propranolol causing breathing issues...

I hope you get the answers you need soon...
