Sorry for not being here for a while, I've been caught up in my mind. I just finished going through a pretty intense anxiety attack. Now I feel normal which happens most of the time after an attack, but unfortunately it's short lived and I got back to being nervous. I have been dealing with a lot of muscle tension and just wondering if y'all had any suggestions?

I often get really bad tension in my back from anxiety. I use a heating pad and it really helps relax my muscles. I know the label on the heating pad says never to lie on it, but I do it anyway because I'm a rebel! ;)

I actually have a heating pad, but my muscle tension is usually all over lol, but I will try it on my neck, shoulders and legs that's where it worst.

Hi SB,

Have you tried Progressive Muscle Relaxation? We have a link in the Resources called "Stress Relieving Exercises" and you can find directions for PMR there.

Very effective.

I hope you start to feel better in general with the anxiety and symptoms soon...

...and that the muscle tension also goes away quickly!

Welcome back.

Sorry to hear you have had an anxiety attack and yes it can cause all your muscles to tense up have you ever been for a massage? I try and get one at least once every month and find that it helps my muscles stay loose a hot bath is also good.

Are you here for the purpose of anxiety peer support? If so, can you tell us a bot more about your journey...specifically your experience with anxiety and what treatment options, if any, you have tried?
