Hi

In in panic mode. Yesterday I woke up and I couldn't hear in my left ear. Sounds blocked and muffled. Throughout the day I tried to pop it by yawning , chewing etc... I've been sick with a cold my son passed to me. I went to a Walkin clinic and he said my ear was inflamed and gave me antibiotics 'Biaxin'. I took it at 2:15 pm and now I feel like throwing up and tummy hurts. Hearing is not back yet. It's fustrating and I'm afraid it won't come back. Now I'm in panic mode. I don't think I can take these meds for 5 days. I feel horrible
I also have this terrible taste in my mouth.

Hi Bam,

I am sorry you are not feeling well:(

Deep breaths...everything is going to be alright.

First of all...antibiotics can cause stomach upset...so unless you were instructed to take it on an empty stomach...you should eat when you take your pill.

It will take at least 24 hrs...maybe a day and a half for you to start to note improvement. Try and be patient.

You are NOT going to permanently have this issue...it will pass as long as you complete your prescription.

I have had many, many ear infections...and my eardrums have actually perforated as a result... (I did not seek treatment right away, bad on me!)

...and my hearing is absolutely fine.:)

Follow your doctor's instructions for your meds...drink lots of liquids and get your rest...and you'll be all better soon.:)

Did you lose hearing in your ear? Like it's blocked and all you hear is muffled when you had ear infection??? I did eat first before taking the prescription. I just want to hear again :(

Yes...always...just during the infection, then it clears in a couple of days...and the hearing returns.

Maybe try nibbling crackers to keep your stomach as calm as possible.

I hope you start to feel better very soon!

Thank you SC. I hope my hearing comes back soon. It's driving me nuts.
