More anxiety and lack of sleep

Hi all,
I sleep 2 hrs a night and get up feeling anxious and worried a lot lately.

It's cold weather or my stressful family life don't know.

Can anyone relate and tell me coping steps I can take .

Lack of sleep makes me sleepy whole day but can't sleep.


Do not know how to deal with this anxiety !!!

I am so sorry you are having trouble sleeping.:( This is a common issue with anxiety...and perpetuates the vicious cycle of losing sleep...then being vulnerable to more anxious feelings.

What have you tried so far? Letting us know any meds, natural supplements. ..or coping skills that you've already tried will help us to best recommend some ideas for you to explore.:)

Hi Cilly - I can definitely relate. I also haven't been sleeping lately and my anxiety is through the roof! I can't stand it. Even ambien doesn't work for me.

I try to do deep breathing (but honestly isn't working for me at the moment) and at night when I lay down I used an app called Smiling Mind and do one of their meditations on there. You can pick how long it lasts. I usually do a 5 or 10 minute one. It does help me to relax quite a bit - even if it doesn't help me to get to sleep.

Have you tried Melatonin? I used this to help me fall asleep when my anxiety was at an all time high and having trouble falling asleep.

Smiling Mind is awesome, highly recommend it. Like JR said, it relaxes you and in my case enough to get to sleep.

Hi cilly,

Do you have an anxiety medicine (like Xanax)?
When I take Xanax (2mg), I get some sleep, but only until it runs out of my system. Then I wake up all freaked out, but at least I get more sleep than I would without it.
That's me though.
I hope you get some sleep soon cilly.
