Celexa side effects ????

It's been a week since I started celexa and the side effects are not pleasant at all, I ve talked to my dr and he says that it's not working yet to give it time...I said ok and this morning I felt great and said ...finally I'm feeling better and then lunch times comes and bum ...anxiety hits me and the fear of hurting myself pops up and my anxiety peaked ...because of a fear that I don't want!!! This has been so hard on me lately ...I really feel bad right now..I want to have patience but I really want to feel ok again

Do you take a benzo or Vistaril (antihistamine) PRN for acute anxiety?

Perhaps talking to your doctor about this...just during your start up would be a good idea?

Hi scaredy...I guess I thought it was going to be the same as with Effexor...it worked on me great...no sleepiness and anxiety under control...

Yes...every med, even within the same family.can perform and act differently for each individual.

Even more baffling...is that some people have found the same Rx to act differently after going back on it for a second time!

Hopefully another week or so, and you'll be feeling relief. Use your coping skills and ask your doctor about a temporary as needed med if you really are struggling.

I hope the side effects are wearing off for you CLN. The irony of anti-anxiety meds causing more anxiety is not lost on me. It's so frustrating that trying to get better is so hard at first. One thing that helps me with anxiety that pops up throughout the day is deep breathing... I just take a minutes to myself and do a couple rounds of breath in for a count of 4, hold for 7, release for 8.

Hoping you start getting some relief!

What a relief I just felt....yes it's very hard feeling sleepy and anxious throughout the day makes me wonder if I ever going to get better but...knowing it's something temporary ...makes me smile and keep fighting...yes I have been on the med for nine days only...

Hi

Unfortunately it seems to be the norm to see a worsening of symptoms during the start up period of a new medication but things do get better after a couple of weeks so stick with it if you can and keep in touch with your doctor so they can monitor your progress.

I'm a celexa user more than 15 years now :). Stick with it. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Celexa has helped me a lot for years.
