Nerves Surge Feeling - Does it Have a Name?

Hi everyone!!

Hope you all are having a fantastic holiday season filled with much love and many smiles.

I've been doing very well on my 5MG of Lexapro for quite some time now. Small ups and downs but most days are good!

Question though...
Is there a name for that feeling when the nerves in your body surge or feel like have jolts of electricity going though them?

This seems to happen most when I take my medicine and it first kicks in. It's annoying and uncomfortable. It's like my nerve endings get lit ablaze and are right on edge. It seems to subside about an hour or so after my medicine sets in.

Does anyone else get this? Any more info on this feeling?

I too hope you are having a great gearing up to the holidays!

As far as the feeling you describe...it sounds like it could be one of two things I can think of...

One are the zaps that some people experience usually when discontinuing from an Rx. These are most often felt in the brain...so this might not be it...

The other, more likely possibility is an adrenaline rush...which is common with anxiety. For me it feels like a jolt through my chest...followed with a spreading warmth sensation.

I am not sure why you would be getting it when you first take your medication...but it could just be your system's reaction. How long have you been on the Lex?

I get those zaps and have always thought it was a side effect of the medication I have become used to them now.
