I started brintellix a week ago after coming off celexa. I'm on a low dose of 5mg right now. Im on it for aniexty and panic attacks. It has made me nauseous, but today after a week I'm very agitated and slightly angry. I am experiencing holiday stress and just had two terrible days of pain and not great sleep (fibromyalgia and endometriosis). I hope this isn't a side effect of the new drug. I'm suppose to up the dose tomorrow but I might just wait until after Christmas. Is it possible to get a new side effect after a week?

I have never heard of this medication but hopefully some of the others have and will be along soon to offer some input.

With regards to side effects most meds cause them during the first few weeks and it's not unusual to see new side effects as you progress with the medication.

Hey Lily,

I thought that med was more for depression than anxiety. A lot of meds treat both anxiety and depression, but some work better for depression and some anxiety.

Does a psychiatrist prescribe your medication? Or does your family doctor?

I agree with MtGG&Q,

I thought this was an Rx more for MDD...

...so if depression is your main challenge, this would be a good choice...

...if not, and your side effects are too tough to stick it out through the start up period...

Then talking to your doctor about an alternative would be a wise move.

I have used Brintellix ,it's new med in North America but used a lot in Europe.

It did not work for me at all.

But docs seem to like it .

It might work for you ,we all are different and unique .

It's quite a new drug. Prescribed mainly for depression, but I've ran out of options and my Dr wanted to see if it would work for me because its acts on serotonin a bit differently. I think the irritability was linked to PMS symptoms and holiday stress. But I just increased the drug so I will watch for continued symptoms in the next week or so. My Dr had rare reviews for this medication, but who knows. Might need to go back go celexa.
