Switching back to lexapro

So I was doing pretty well for most of last year but still having panic attacks once in a while. My doc decided to switch from lexapro to Zoloft in October to see if that helped. What a big mistake.

Anyways after a month on Zoloft my daily anxiety had come back plus I was extremely tired, literally could fall asleep at any time. It was like back to square one. The klonopin wasn't even touching it. So we decided to switch back to lexapro the first week of December.

I've been on the lexapro 4 1/2 weeks now and my anxiety is still high. Has anyone else had experiences like this where they switched back to a med that was working before and doesn't seem to work now?

I have read this to be many people's experience. It was baffling for them, since they'd gone back on what had previously been a med that performed well for them.

Give it the full start up time, which is, at minimum 6 weeks (depending) on up to 10 or even 12 weeks...to see if you get therapeutic benefits this time around.

Use your coping skills until then...(sounds like you are and doing pretty well...so keep up the good work!)

You'll get there. I'm thankful for Dr's who use medication as a support tool so you can 'do the work' of CBT.

I am talking about my psych doc, I learned the hard way with having my primary perscribe me meds. I always get referred to a specialist now.
