Changing AD dosing time

Last night was my first time taking Lexapro. I felt pretty bad most of the night and was not able to sleep for several hours.

Head burning
Nauseated
When I closed my eyes it felt like my vision was swirling
Blah!

So, I just called the pharmacy and the pharmacist suggested not taking the dose tonight and taking it in the morning after I eat. I hated the dizzy/swimming feeling I had last night. I hope that by taking it in the morning doesn't have the same issue - I have to drive to work. I wonder if I should take it once I am already at work?

Have any of you done this and had success? How do you find the right dosing time?

I can't speak for Lexapro, but I can tell you I had some really nasty side effects with Zoloft. Zoloft would make me really drowsy, then two hours later I would walk up wide awake, insomnia, stomach pain, headache, sweating, feeling light headed or heavy headed, dry mouth, feeling zoned out, trouble concentrating, increased anxiety first two weeks.

Personally I prefer to take my SSRI medication around 7pm.

Maybe taking it just a little earlier would help me, too? I took mine around 9 pm last night.

I think trying the morning would be worth a shot. I've read posts where people have switched the time they take their meds...and some do better with an a.m. dose...

I hope you find the window that helps your med perform the best...and is most comfortable for you.

Hi

Yes it is best to take Lexapro in the morning as it's an activating med.

It should not cause you many problems switching from the evening to morning.

I commented on one of your last posts about Lexapro - I started Lexapro 10mg on Monday at 8pm. Woke up a lot during the night, felt really hot and nauseated. Had the same symptoms when I took it Tuesday at 8pm as well.

Decided I wanted to switch to a morning dose, so I did it gradually: Wednesday I took it at 4pm, Thursday I took it at 12pm, and today I took it at 8am, and I feel great - only side effect is VERY mild nausea. It hasn't made me tired or truly sick feeling at all.

Medications DO effect everyone differently, so it may not be the exact same for you. But I can say I have had success from switching my dose from night to morning!

Hope you see similar results. :D

Thanks guys! I ended up trying it one more time last night but took it an hour earlier. I may try to take it an hour even earlier tonight. I prefer taking medicine at night - I tend to get an upset stomach when I take vitamins in the morning. I had much better results last night. I did not have any of the head pain I had the night before and I slept for 9 hours! I did feel myself waking up at 1 am but I kept my eyes closed - my mind was alert for about 45 minutes or so and then I fell back asleep. I really hope this works out for me!

Very mild nausea this morning. Much better than yesterday and I don't feel nearly as tired as I did yesterday.
