I was admitted to labor & delivery last night with contractions that were 3 minutes apart and a cervix that was 50% effaced for anyone who knows what the heck that means.

Long story short I'm here until at least Tuesday or Wednesday and have been given meds to stop my contractions and steroids to develop the baby's lungs as a precaution.

I had a severe panic attack about an hour or two after the first round of meds and they gave me oxygen and Xanax. Please just send peace our way and wishes that this baby stays out for awhile. It is way too soon.

Thankful for you and your prayers. They've given me bags of fluid and I'm drinking tons and tons of water.

Thank you, everyone. I love and appreciate you all so much.

I am still here and still getting appropriate meds for baby and to stop contractions. I'm extra anxious and really lonely so your responses brighten my day.

Do you mind talking about the situation...would that help...

...or do you just want to chat in general for distraction?

I don't like being in the hospital either...so my heart goes out to you!

Is your little guy allowed in to visit? I hope so. How about hubs...is he there with you?

Are your doctors and nurses nice? That can make all the difference!

We'll be here, so keep on posting...

I don't mind talking about it.

So sadly my little guy cannot be here because he has c-diff and I would be the worst person in the world if I allowed him to come to a floor where there are babies all over and he could somehow risk spreading it!

Also sadly, my husband had to leave after a few hours so he could go pick up our son at my mom's.

I feel pretty safe in hospitals, but this has me a little bit scared for myself and the baby. I'm coloring right now to try and keep busy!

The nurses are nice and are going to give me some meds to sleep since I haven't since Friday and I'm exhausted.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds like you're in good hands and getting the treatment you need. Do you have an iPad or anything you can play games on to pass the time? Thank goodness
for sleep meds.

Do you have a roommate?

You mentioned being somewhat effaced...but not dilated? That is good. I bet as long as the contractions have stopped,(dehydration?) you'll get to go home soon. :)

I hope that you are as comfortable as possible...and that you can get rest tonight.

No roommate here, thank goodness! I had a few visitors yesterday and a few more coming today, so that'll be nice.

Yes, effaced but not dilated is what I understand, so that's good. I'm having a non-stress test this morning to check for more contractions and before they discharge me they'll check me again to make sure I haven't dilated over the past few days. They say the contractions were not caused my dehydration because they were unable to stop them with a few bags of fluid and the only thing that's helped is this medication.

Anyway, I've been up on and off since 3:30! I showered in the worst shower ever and now I'm going to eat breakfast. Thanks for continuing to chat with me everyone.

SO glad they were able to stop the contractions! Sending positive vibes that this is just a blip in the remainder of a boring pregnancy :)

Park,

What a scary situation! I am so happy things seem to be getting better and they are taking care of you.

I work in the RNICU and totally understand how scary preterm birth can be!! I know those nurses are doing everything they can to make you and your baby comfortable. Hopefully you guys will be outta there soon!! Thinking and praying for you guys!

Oh Park!!! I'm so sorry to hear that! Please don't worry my friend went in at 29 weeks same thing as you...they gave her plenty of fluids and stopped her contractions. She's now 40 plus weeks!!! I am praying for you and I know your baby will be perfectly fine. We are here with you and sending you positive energy your way.

Thanks everyone!

I'm staying until tomorrow for sure to finish taking the meds that stop my contractions. They'll evaluate tomorrow but if there are no changes then I can go home.

I'm just praying for at a minimum, he stays inside for a few more weeks until we've hit the 30 weeks mark!
