Hello


Need help and Advise

Dr. gave me Zoloft to switch from Celexa that I have been on for over 16 years. I need this change as Celexa is not working for me no longer. Anybody gone through a med change with no effects and help cheer me on. Im scared out of my mind of what to expect. I am a mother of 2 boys and don't want to breakdownfrom doing this.

Hey, BamBam your not even going to come close to a breakdown, the odds are just as good maybe even better that you will have no problems at all, so take a deep breath and be thankful that there so
many different drugs available for when we have exhausted the effectiveness of an old one, these drugs are a gift to help us live and live well, drop all negative thoughts and push forward to your recovery because thats exactly where you are headed, Peace

Bam,

Since you are changing within the same family of meds...you will likely be just fine with this transition.:)

Imagine only positive results and be optimistic about the change. Practice your coping skills to help keep you relaxed and calm, instead of anticipating something unwanted happening...because likely if you do all of this, it will not!

I'm hearing horror stories. I need to stop googling. My dr. Told me to stop the celexa and tomorrow start the Zoloft. Shouldn't I tapper off ????

BamBam, dear you went to the Doctor to get help, right?

If you think the doctor is incompetent then by all means question the advice but if you are just over thinking the situation them perhaps give the new meds a try, like SC said "same family of meds",

We can start the Zoloft journey together! My new pdoc is adding Zoloft in addition to my Effexor that I currently take.

We can do it! One day at a time.

Bam,

I took my first Zoloft this morning. I'm starting at 25 mg.

How about you? When are you starting?

My Dr. told me to take it at night. I caved in as I was getting some kind of withdrawl I cant wait until tonight I took my regular meds. Will have to try tomorrow night.


Anyone else have any insight on changing meds and what to expect??????

Bam,

Every Dr is different. My daughter's pdoc has her taking the Zoloft at bedtime. Mine wanted me to take mine in the morning.

So even though it's the first day of taking the Zoloft, the only thing I have noticed is sleepiness. Looking forward to tomorrow and taking my 2nd dose.

Hi Bam

Changing medication can be a difficult time I have done many changes over the years and most have gone well but some have not.

Take the lead from your doctor and follow their advice and double up on your coping skills to help with any extra anxiety.
