Hi. I'm new to this forum. about 3 weeks ago I woke up with a thought that wouldn't go away. It was somthing that happened years ago but that all the sudden started bothering me again. A couple of days ago the thought went away but a new one emerged and it was of somthing that hadn't even happened. My mind is racing with this thought and almost trying to trick me into thinking that this thought is real and that it actually happened when in fact it didn't happen at all. I feel like I'm going crazy. I can't sleep at night and when I can I wake up with anxiety attacks. I just want this looping thought to go away. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

I am sorry to hear of your recent challenge with this issue. :(

Intrusive thoughts can be attributed to acute anxiety and in some cases OCD.

Have you previously had experience with anxiety/panic or obsessive tendencies? If so, did you seek treatment?

Most people find medication and/or therapy to be beneficial for relief and feeling their best.

Self help is another great option, and one you could get started on right away with the help of our Resources. You'll find them at the top of the main forum page here. Practicing the stress relieving exercises regularly can reduce anxiety...usually minimizing the intrusive thoughts.

Let us know a little more about your story...what you've tried...your goals ect...

...and hopefully we can make some more suggestions and support you through this challenge.

I have had anxiety in the past and I just started going to see a psychologist. I have only been once so far so I am hoping that as I continue to go I can find peace. My goal is the make these thoughts go away/ find out why I am having these thoughts all of the sudden.

Also I have ADD and take adderall. But because of these thoughts and anxiety attacks I haven't taken my adderall because it increases my anxiety.

Okay...that is great news about your starting therapy! It will help tremendously I believe...it certainly did for me...

...but it does take time, so I send thoughts for patience and perseverance your way.

Do check out our Resources and see if anything looks helpful to you. The self help really can make a difference.

Keep posting as well. We understand, care and support is key. :)

Like your namesake you will rise above this condition and yes even thrive. Your obvious intelligence
will eventually sort much of this out for you but you need help now and i realize that, your problems with the fine, etc are not helping but once you face these things and are dealing with them you will
be in a position to deal with the panic and anxiety. We have a lot of free resources here and it seems that you could use a good distraction, check them out you might be surprised, in the mean time you will be in our thoughts and Prayers, Peace

Thank you. I just don't know what is wrong with me. I have never dealt with this before so I'm not sure what triggered it or why. I'm only 19 years old and I'm in college so I assume stress could be part of the reason. If you have any other words of advice they are greatly appreciated

Mam there have been many students here over the years both Women and Men so don't feel like you are alone in this, and don't even think this condition will win, i know of no one who has not recovered please take a good look at the resources, they are good and do work, I like CBT and Mindfulness i have come to the point that for me a good distraction works best, Peace
