Anyone taking Prozac? Just starting and have a question.

Hi everyone,
Hope all is going well! I am starting Prozac tonight is my first night little nervous. After having a bad reaction from cymbalta.. We did not play nice together!!

I know the doctors said I can take the ativan and Prozac together. So I'm taking that as, I can take both at the same time. Does this sound right? Second, I'm only a very low dose to start because my body is sensitive to medication. I am to take 5 mgs a night for a week then go up up to10.

Just wondering everyone's experience with this drug and if you have taken it with ativan.

Just my anxious self being overly anxious, but hearing that its working well for other might just calm me down enough to relax.

My Wife has taken prozac and ativan together for almost thirty years, they started her out on a very
high amount i think it was 80mg, it made her sleep all the time, each visit they would cut her back
until she got to 20mg. she has been there about twenty years, she never had a problem with either
drug, she still takes it every day. Peace

Yes, it is pretty common practice to use a benzo when starting an SSRI/SNRI...to help offset any start up effects from the A/D.

It sounds like the slow and gentle increase plan is a good one, and I am sure you will do fine. :)

Use your coping skills and positive thinking to help ensure the best possible start of your new Rx.

I'm glad your wife is doing well and everything is working in her favor. Just that alone has made my anxiousness go down some.

Thank you for responding also, I will keep using my coping skills and positive thoughts. Meditation has been so helpful, I do it all the time its so relaxing and really helps calm the mind!

i also agree to the slow start. its a pretty strong drug. ease up to the dose that suits you best and dont go beyond it. my dr wanted me on 40 mg when 20 mg worked best for me . best part is stopping this drug is a breeze.

Hi

Yes it is common practice to mix these to medications together and you will be ok taking them at the same time.

I take Prozac 60mg and take mine in the morning as I find it a very activating medication so if I took it at night it would affect my sleep.

I hope it works well for you.
