Hello,my names Matt I'm 19 and been taking lexapro for 3-4 years I just ran out and I just moved out of state.i am currently looking for a primary physician but first I have to get my insurance changed over to the state I'm in now.i don't know what to do till then because I really hate getting withdrawal symptoms. Could I maybe go to the ER and get some till I can get someone here. Im very overwhelmed and it's causing me a lot of anxiety. :(

Hi CW and welcome back,

I am sorry you are in this situation...and I understand your concern.

I think you can certainly try going to the ER...but you will pay a lot out of pocket. ..and I do not think they will send you home with any medication.

You may be better off making an appointment with a GP...even if you don't end up making this doctor your permanent physician...just to get an emergency prescription.

Use your coping skills to get you through any missed days/doses...and perhaps fish oil as well...to help relieve any discontinuation issues.

Hi

I live in the UK and in your situation we can goto the pharmacist and they can provide an emergency prescription to get you through the period until you can see your GP.

Not sure if you can do that over in the States?

Most insurance policies are not State specific.

Your old doctor should be able to phone in a prescription.

My GP wrote me a script for Lexapro and it cost me less than $10 cash. Like mentioned before why can't your original prescriber just call in a refill wherever you are presently at?
