? Anxiety coming back..Lexapro week 7

Hi,

Ive been on the generic Lexapro for about 7 weeks now. I started on 5 mg, and the last week I've been on 7.5 to gradually increase to 10mg. I was doing great, anxiety dramatically decreased, the "globus" lump throat feeling I had went away. Now; I'm back to having the lump feeling again. This really is a bummer.... Im hoping once I go up to 10 (in 2 more days im supposd to increase) I will start to feel good again...

For me it's always a roller coaster...can't figure out why the ups and downs happen.

I would just take it in stride as much as possible. Most likely you are feeling overall much better, you're just very aware of sliding back down and your mind amplifies those experiences.

I think med adjustments (increase or decrease) can cause some breakthrough anxiety/symptoms. So hopefully once your meds level back out to the new dose you'll start to feel better again.

Hi

When you increase the dosage of a medication you can experience more anxiety but things will settle back down again so stick with it. If things don't improve then go back and speak with your doctor.

10mg is the target dose for Lexapro for anxiety.

I've increased my Lexapro 5 times since I restarted in March. Each time I had some breakthrough anxiety.
I'm sure this is what you're experiencing. Once you get to 10mg and are on that for a week or two, everything will level out and you'll be fine. The worst part is usually 2 or 3 days after the increase for me.
Could be different for you.

Hey momoftwo,

I started lex 07/22. This is my fourth time on it in the last 8 years.

I've had my moments where I was great and anxiety was gone and then it returns. I started getting morning anxiety again the week before my menstrual cycle. But it's gotten better. Hang in there.

I know it feels like a set back but give it some time before you increase.

Transient symptoms are not unusual...not only with anxiety in general...but also with getting up to your therapeutic level with an Rx.
