Seroquel users, need advice

Hi, I am going through a phase of extreme anxiety. i've had bad experience with ssri's that ive used ( paxil, prozac). Now i'm on my third ssri lexapro. its day 11th and my anxiety is getting worse, ive no motivation to do anything anymore. Not sleeping well. I'm hoping these are transient side effects and will fade with time. But im in a real bad shape right now. My thoughts are completely disorted. My head is full of fear. Benzo's arent helping either. I need something to take the edge off. So i'm gonna ask my doc to put me on Seroquel which ive taken in the past and found it very helpful. But i had to quit coz of the weight gain.

I need advice on how to maintain weight on seroquel.

Would taking lower dose be helpful?
Between Seroquel IR and Seroquel XR which one has the potential to cause more weight gain?

Any advice you can share would be much appreciated.

Hi rav,

I don't have any specific advice about the meds, I just wanted to send you well wishes and strength. Stay strong - you will get better!

Hopefully others with experience with the specific medications can chime in.

Hi

Welcome to the forum but sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment.

I have taken Seroquel in the past an found it good for anxiety and sleep but as you mention the weight gain can be a problem. I would say stay on the lowest possible dose which in my case was 50mg. I am currently taking a smilier medication called Olanzapine which is supposed to be the worst for weight gain but I have managed it through exercise I walk 3 miles a day and also need to watch what I eat especially sugary foods.

Thanks Hibee, that's just what I needed to hear. Could you please help me with something else after my first post today my Ip got banned from accesing any and all forums. I came to this site, looking for a compassionate place to get support and help. But gettin rejected like this doesn seem fair. I don't know why they're doing it. I am writing this post from my cellphone, via which I still have access.

Hi Rd,

Oh no! Please don't take it personally...

We have been having so much trouble with SPAM, that sometimes (especially new) members get accidentally banned.

It could also be a glitch...as has happened before and spontaneously resolves itself.

We ARE a compassionate and supportive site...just one with its share of challenges sometimes...

Give me some time to try and get it worked out okay?

Thank you Scaredy Cat for addressing my concerns. I understand these things/glitches happen sometimes. I apologize, I shouldnt have jumped to conclusion without doing my due dilligence.

Hi RD,

I just checked the list of banned IP #'s, and yours was not on it. So, you may just have a glitch on the PC end of things....(b/c you wouldn't even have been able to access by mobile if you had an IP ban, but I had to check of course)

Can you try logging out and back in and see if that does the trick? We have had others members have success with this trouble shoot. ;p

My husband is an IT guy and the first thing he always says is "reboot!" !! So try that first, hope it work rav!! :D

Yeah I can't seem to find the logout button from my laptop. Any forum I click it brings me to the Ban message.

'Log Off'.....upper blue toolbar...all the way to the left. ('My Profile' and 'Admin' are right next to it.)

I would try this first.

Actually the "log off" only appears when we enter a forum and I can't enter it. I can browse through the main window of the site, everything but forums.
And I also tried restarting, that didn't work either.

Just got this response in the Mod Forum:

Ok, in that thread you seem to have looked for his ip address, but he didn't give you the address for his computer. His phone ip address would not be the same. Or maybe you got his ip via email?

...So if you know your computer's IP...you can send it to my e-mail (in my profile) and I can check that.

Update:

Oh, nevermind, I see that the IP from his first post in that thread is different than the post where he said he is on the phone, and you are right, that IP is not on the banned list.

Most of us have dynamic addresses from our internet providers. He would want to shut down his network connection to his provider then reconnect, hoping the new connection is via a different IP. Never hurts for him to shut down his computer at the same time, so anything lingering from the old connection is flushed out.

I hope this work...sorry this happened...but it doesn't seem to be on HW's end...wishing you luck!

Can you goto www.whatismyip.com and tell me what your IP is right now? (I'm the one helping Scaredy Cat from the moderator forum, you can email me directly.)
