Hi HW Family,
Today has been a high stress day for me. My mom is traveling to a dangerous part of the world and I've been anxiously tracking her flight (Hello, OCD) for the better half of the day (she did end up making it). I also did have three cocktails at a friends last night (why, oh why do I do this to myself) with tequila of all things so my stomach is beyond repair today and I've also convinced myself I have a swollen lymph node-- not sure how I've managed to do this, but I have.
I decided to do some positive mantra's and apply some great coping skills. I've found in the past that guided meditations are really soothing so I was researching some new ones and found one whose commenters preached how gentle the voice was and how those who viewed it listened to it reached a real state of serenity. I sat down in my comfy chair, dogs peacefully sleeping beside me, my partner out of the house. I closed my eyes and listened to the initial beautiful sounds for the first 10 seconds or so. What I thought would be a lovely video, quickly resulted in the birds chirping and waves crashing to full on hard metal, scream-o. I've never jumped so high out of a chair in my entire life. Someone had obviously tweaked with the video, and I couldn't help but just sit there and crack up.
If you have time and are willing to share, what are some moments where you've had to just laugh during an acute anxiety attack?
