Is this costocondritis ?

Sorry for my poor spellingsmile
I've noticed the last 2 days that when I lay on my left side and then roll to the right I have an aching chest pain on the left side.
It literally feels like a weight or something is there that hurts when I press it.
Today it's been hurting even without laying on my left side, though I have been poking around it all day.
No other symptoms just pain on the left side?
Anyone??

PG,

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the connecting cartilage from the breastbone to the rib cage.

It certainly is a possibility...but would need to be dx'd by your doctor to be certain.

We have a few threads on this subject here in the forum...so I recommend doing a search if you are interested in reading more from others who have had this as a co-morbid condition with their anxiety.

I hope you get the answers you need soon!

How's it going today? I have never heard of Costochondritis so I cannot comment on it ...
But unfortunately with anxiety we do latch on to things self diagnosis and all that.... Then we prod around that area making it tender and making the fears worse...
I am sure we are all guilty of that ..

Hi

Yes it does sound like Costochondritis but do go and see your doctor to confirm.

It can be very painful I suffer with it myself I find Ibuprofen helps.

I am fairly certain it's costochondritis..my doc gave me pain med's to relieve it 3 months ago
It went away but it's back now...not sure what makes it reoccur but it feels worse..
Also wonder if I have a hiatial hernia...those are on the left side right??
My heartburn has been horrendous these last 2 weeks..hoarse throat, burning in chest and throat...
I'm drinking kefir trying to coat it but darn it's bad...worse then it has been ever.sad
I'm so glad my Paxil seems to be really reducing my anxiety or I'd be having daily panic attacks over all this.
It's like why do I have all these symptoms at once?? Is it aging??

I've never heard of a hiatal hernia as presenting solely on the left side...but I am no means an expert.

I do known that you can't hope to treat your reflux fully if you indeed have this issue...so getting this checked out ASAP should be a goal.

I am glad your anxiety has been managed well...that is a huge victory! May it continue.smile

...and hopefully you can get some quick answers regarding the gastro stuff!

I am so glad your anxiety levels are better now ... That's brilliant news 😁
My recovery is going OK ... Not quite as I had expected but hey that's me .... I didn't expect so much pain and I thought I would be able to eat normally again etc but apparently not yet ....some do some don't and I am the latter.
I wished I could have waited until after the hols because I have so much to do ... But it is what it is and I will! Have to deal with it...

Had a bit of background anxiety but dealing with that OK.
Any way hope you get sorted soon
