Another rough night

Blood pressure started rising last night before bed and I was cold so couldn't sleep. I had taken a potassium yesterday and it gave me pretty bad acid so I took mylanta before bed.

I got out of bed around 12:30 and my bp would not go down so I took a clonidine fast acting bp pill and it wouldn't lower my bp.

Long story short, lots of anxiety, praying not to have to go to ER and zero sleep last night with a night of rapid heartbeat and I am exhausted.

I dont know if it was the mylanta or the anxiety so high or both but the bp just would not come down.

Thus morning earlier I found that if I did breathing exercises I got it to go down some so there is that I learned.

I have dogs and cats and they dont let me sleep in the day so I dont know how to get through life like this.

I look at the meds they want me to take and ne of them specificaly can raise my blood pressure thats one for anxiety and one can give me anxiety and thats the blood pressure med and I dont know what to do. This is making me more anxious than anything because I want to run away but I can't.

I was terrified last night because the clonidine was the one thing I counted on to lower my bp and it wasnt working. I'm so scared. I dont want to do this.

I am sending thoughts and prayers. Please try and let the burden of concern rest on your doctor...and not yourself. Try to stop the researching, and just follow the doc's protocol. I know it is a scary leap of faith...but what choice do you really have? As it is, the current status quo isn't really working, right?

OK she said not to double the bp med yet and wants me to do the effexor and xanax. She also wants me to stop obsessively taking my blood pressure and that I will have to work on too. I have people who are off work this weekend and my hubby will be home for a couple days the 27th so one of those days would be ok to start meds. Then IF anything happens they can help me. I may try the generic xanax before though we will see. Sometimes I would love to have something to just take the edge of anxiety off. I was pretty thrilled the breathing was working! Seeing it change the blood pressure monitor reading actually took some of my anxiety away.

Some positives there to come out of the anxiety for you. Well done on the breathing exercises .. That is brilliant .
All good advice given.... Now just to get it in to practice as like you say .. you cannot carry on this way.

Brill idea to start the xanax now, that could help break the cycle .
Especially now you have mastered the breathing (i can sometimes struggle with that) so you have inspired me there to work a bit harder at it... Thank you

Just a thought--are you sure your blood pressure cuff is calibrated correctly? Perhaps that is what is wrong and not your actual bp? Your doctors office can check that for you I believe.

My brother had that happen to him. He was fearing how his bp was having troubles but when he bought
a new cuff it showed him he was fine.
