I agree with SC, meds can be a way to break a cycle of anxiety/panic/depression, etc...
I also used to worry about
elevated blood pressure and looking back, that anxiety made it go higher when measured at the doctor's office or at home.
For me, getting some sleep back in late 2014 after not having it for 2.5 months was one thing that "broke the logjam" so to speak. This was due to a sleep med (Trazodone) and a benzo (Klonopin). Klonopin is not needed anymore and only rarely do I take Trazodone. However, I do still rely on Lexapro and likely will for some time. This is because I do have anxiety, and to a lesser extent, depression, that needs to be addressed proactively.
I think we can get so locked into a cycle of anxiety and panic that the mind almost forgets how it was before it started. When the cycle is broken you will feel so much relief and, in my case, a very strong sense of resolve.
