Sleeping Problems with Wellbutrin

Hey everyone!

So as some of you may know I started Wellbutrin 150mg 5 days ago and so far it's going okay. The side effects are minimal: body aches and stomach cramps every once in awhile. I feel depressed on and off but I'm trying to think positive and do thinks for myself like getting some exercise. The only real problem is I'm having trouble falling asleep. My doctor gave me Vistaril and that's the only way I fall asleep. I tried to sleep last night without it but after 2 hours when I realized I was still awake, I decided to just go take it. Here's my questions that have me a little worried:

*Will the sleeping problems eventually go away?
*For anyone who has taken Vistaril...it's not habit forming is it?
*Also I notice I have strange dreams when I take Vistaril. It's nothing morbid...but somebody always dies in my dreams. lol Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not worried about it...just think it's odd. lol

As you adjust to Wellbutrin your sleep problems might improve.

A component of Wellbutrin is "wake up" or energy boost to it for a lack of a better term. Wellbutrin is used for ADHD/ADD as a add on to the ADD/ADHD medications and sometimes used instead of ADD/ADHD medications for this reason.

vistiril is not habit forming. its just a strong antihistamine.

Another possibility for sleep is Melatonin supplement from the net or from a health food store.

I take 1 mg. at night and it puts me to sleep. Some say you can take 3 or 4 mg., because they sell it in 5 and 10 mg. pills.

Some say you need to talk to your doctor or druggist to see if it goes well with your medicine(s).

Hi Ashlee,

Try taking the Wellbutrin first thing in the morning, 7:30AM or so. This way will will not have the insomnia at night and should be able to not take the Vistaril any more.
