Anxious and upset about fight with my sister

I had a big fight/argument with my sister today about Medicare. I will turn 65 on July 27. She thinks I should wait 3 months until after my 65th birthday when Medicare kicks in, (Oct 27) to quit my job. My plan was to wait 2 weeks, and quit around August 15th. She said some things that really bother me, though they may be the truth. But her main point is "what if something goes wrong"? You won't be able to get your job back and you'll be stuck. I assume she means my Medicare plan not paying for something.

Anyway now I'm all upset and worried and unsure what to do. I decided to post here and see what kind of feedback I get.

Rich, so sorry to read about the situation with your sister. My sister is 72 yrs old & is finally going to retire in 5 weeks. Currently she has private insurance through her employer. Her coverage will end immediately upon her retirement date. She will be contacting SSA tomorrow to get her Medicare coverage established so that she will not have a gap in coverage. I urge you to contact the local SSA office in your area & they can help you with this. By contacting them they can advise you on how to handle this so that you do not have a gap in coverage & have your Medicare in effect. Many people retire from their jobs right after turning 65. I am not understanding the 3 month thing your sister is talking about.
