Anxiety Increase...Rx related?

I am almost 6 months off of a benzo I was rx'd for anxiety...Recently I've developed yeast in my mouth and later it was found in my urine. The doctor rxd Diflucan and Nystatin. Both the meds made my symptoms a million times worse and I'm wondering if anyoe has any experience with this? I honestly have never been in more pain in my lfe.

Hi KCS,

I am sorry to hear of your recent illness and anxiety increase...these certainly go hand in hand...so know you are not alone.

Being sick can be enough of a trigger...along with navigating increased anxiety without the help of your benzo...

...but since you suspect your Rx's...

...looking into whether the Nystatin is coupled with a steroid might be a good step. This combination is not unusual from what I read...and steroids are known to exacerbate anxiety.

In any case...increasing your coping skills will help to get you through this time. Practicing consistently daily is key.

Thank you SC....just see no end to the misery I've endured....I was on this forum over a year ago having been started on ssri's and a benzo. I'm 6 months off them and just no better...The yeast infection in my mouth and urine caught me off guard and have really depleted me in every way...I pray to survive this. Thank you for the encouragement.

Since going off your meds...have you started/reinstated therapy and/or self help?

Leaving one tool, necessitates adding in another!
