Long story but will try to keep it short...
Have always been anxious/nervous about
taking medications, I just seem more sensitive for some reason.
I have mitral valve prolapse with occasional heart palpitations, the cardiologist says its fine. I have done stress tests and echo's and he says I am perfectly healthy. I am thin and have normal to slightly low blood pressure and am on NO medications. Normal cholesterol, etc...all good.
BUT this anxiety is ruining my life. Maybe it stems from the MVP but I'm not sure. But I'm worried all the time about
my chest, doing physical activity, etc... I'm always in my head thinking about
my chest.
I have noticed lately that the anxiety has caused my stomach to basically be in a knot and my upper abs/stomach keeps tightening up subconsciously. I started getting really full when eating and lost about
15 lbs unintentionally and had a endoscopy scheduled but cancelled it because I had a panic attack the morning of the appt.
I was too scared to be sedated with propofol. Ugh! Anyways, I just saw a new GP and she thinks that alot of my stomach issues might be anxiety/stress related. My old GP recommended anti anxiety meds but I could never get myself to take them. However, these stomach issues are so bad I can no longer ignore it.
She recommended Buspar and I read on here that it's safe and mild but I am worried I will get palpitations or die from taking it. I know it's not a rational thought and it should if anything help my heart/chest most likely but I always see the negative side effects and it stops me.
Wish me luck taking it (although I will probably break it in a quarter just to start). It's only 5mg, but hey I'm a chicken. If you have success stories on Buspar and if they helped your anxiety/palpitations/PVC's then I'm all ears! Or if you were worried to take it and then once you took it you felt better...
Thanks!
